Due to significant underlying software architecture and security enhancements in Windows Vista, it will not be a surprise if you’re facing with application program compatibility issues, especially for those older and legacy games or software that are not upgraded or updated by developers. Where there are compatibility issues, the game or application may not be installed correctly, may cause system instability or its primary functions may not work correctly. Microsoft is trying to patch and fix these issues with Vista application compatibility update.
As of end of April 2007, Microsoft has released Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update updated on March 2007, which intends to address common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista and improves support for many apps and programs. The KB932246 is distributed to Vista clients via Windows Update automatically. However, if you disable Windows Update, you may want to download and install it manually.
KB 932246 contains all the hotfixes and patches that are included in previous release of compatibility update for Vista KB929427. In general, the following applications will have better support with the update in Windows Vista:
