Remove ESET NOD32 Checked Email Confirmation Tag Message in Email

When install and run NOD32 anti virus program from ESET with default configuration, NOD32 will append a tag message to the footer or end of all the POP3 email which has been downloaded from mail server to the local computer email client such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla ThunderBird, Eudora and etc, and checked by NOD32 IMON (Internet Monitor) when passing through port 110, or by EMON (Microsoft Outlook Email Monitor) when going to Outlook Inbox. The message looks like the following.

__________ NOD32 2440 (20070806) Information __________

This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system.

This default behavior of appending virus checking confirmation message to the email can be disabled, or set NOD32 to include the message only on infect email. The following tutorial guide will show you how to do turn off the message appending to email.

  1. Open NOD32 Control Center.
  2. Expand Threat Protection Modules.
  3. Click on IMON.
  4. On the IMON – Internet Monitor right pane, click on Setup button.
  5. NOD32 IMON Setup

On POP3 pane and Append tag messages to email sub-section of Check email confirmations section, select the radio button of the option prefer. Three options available which are no notification, infected email only and all email (default).

  • For version 3 follow these steps:

-make sure you have advanced mode checked under "User Interface"

-Click "Advanced Antivirus and antispyware protection setup"

-Click "Email Protection" in the tree to the left

-Under "Alerts and Notifications" change the first two options to your desired settings – the default is "to all scanned email"

    Hope this helps

  • Mind to describe how you do it in the new version so that can share with others?

  • Nevermind, found it :)

  • Hey, exactly what I was looking for! But how does it work on NOD32 version 3? The control panel has changed and I cannot find this option anywhere. It's so damn annoying to append a header to each message *angry*!
