You probably don’t aware or notice that rotating photos which are saved in JPEG format by using Windows XP’s Picture and Fax Viewer, Windows Vista’s Photo Gallery, Windows 7’s Photo Viewer or even Photoshop can degrade image quality. Although it is hard to differentiate by naked eye, but if you compare the image size before and after they are rotated, obviously you will notice that the image size has been reduced. Most of other image formats will not have this problem but unfortunately JPEG is one of the formats which have been identified to affect original quality each time it is rotated. When rotating JPEG image, it will be decoded to bitmap format, then rotate and re-encode it back to JPEG and all this conversion process has impacted the final quality you will never able to recover it back. To avoid such problem, now there is a tool, named as JPEG Lossless Rotator that is able to rotate photo without causing any quality degradation on JPEG images.
