For people who is using an Apple products, such as iPhone, iPod touch, iPod, iPad, MacBook and iMac, chance is that you will have an iTunes account with an Apple ID. iTunes has been the central marketplace for everything including songs, video, TV shows, audiobooks, music video, apps, and podcasts. To download any of the contents, an iTunes account (and Apple ID) has to be created.

If you decide that iTunes is enough for you, and want to leave the Apple ecosystem, or just want to avoid accidental future downloads (and hence payment for costs), unfortunately Apple does not offer a way to delete, cancel or even disable the iTunes account. As such, try the one of following methods or tricks as a workaround to delete and cancel the iTunes account, and stop the iTunes account from been used in future.

Method 1: Manually Contact Apple

Contact Apple Customer Service (contact information can be found at apple.com) through phone call or email (if available), and indicates that you want to cancel or delete an iTunes account and/or Apple ID.

Note that this option of disabling iTunes account may hinder your ability to access the purchases previously bought on the particular iTunes account, especially on computers that were not authorized to download or install the purchases prior to account cancellation.

Method 2: Disable Credit Card and PayPal

Most people wants to cancel iTunes account to stop spending on unnecessary items, which are too easy to purchase in iTunes. Another way for people who simply wants to stop buying and charging to credit card or PayPal, either by oneself or somebody who has accessed to the iTunes account, is to disable the credit card and linked PayPal account.

Disable Credit Card in iTunes

To do so, access the “Apple Account Information” page in iTunes by clicking on the Apple ID (email address) and select Account. Then, click Edit Payment Information and choose None radio button for Credit Card. Click “Done” to remove the credit card or PayPal information.

Method 3: Change Password

If you believe your account has been compromised, or somebody have use the account to unauthorized purchase from iTunes Store, just change the password frequently. By changing password, everybody else who does not know the new password will be locked out from making purchases on credit card stored in iTunes.

Method 4: Change and Set Apple ID with Fake Information and Password

For people who insists on deleting or removing the iTunes account and/or the Apple ID, but does not want to contact Apple Customer Service, just change the account information inside the Apple ID or iTunes account, unsubscribe from all mailing list, and then change the password of the account to a random password.

Tip: If you require to verify the fake email address, just use any temporary disposable email address.
