How to Change and Move Firefox 4 Tabs On Top or Bottom (Above or Below) of Address Bar
Beginning from Firefox 4, which has undergone a complete redesigned of user interface, the browser tabs bar has been moved to the top of the Firefox window, above and on top of the address bar (or awesome bar). Previously, the tabs are located below or bottom of the address bar.
For users who prefer the location of the tabs in another location, Firefox 4 has option to change, toggle and move the tabs to the top or bottom of the address bar. Here’s the way to toggle the location change.
- Right click at down arrow the right end of the bar containing the tabs, or right click on a blank space on the address bar.

- Click and select (tick) on Tabs on Top for the tabs to appear above and on top of address bar.
Click and unselect (untick) on Tabs on Top for the tabs to appear below and bottom of address bar.

Man, thank you for this..so simple and overlooked. I hate tabs on top. It’s so distracting to look thru 3 rows of information to get to tabs. That was the reason I previously had never upgraded from FF 3.6. I’m pleased I did now.
The option Tabs on top is great, but defaulting that option is just plain stupid !?
It sucks with tabs on top! I want to have tabs close to my bookmarks row like before. Tabs on top is totally inefficient since I have to move both my sight and the mouse long distance when browsing thus loosing time.

You can use this skin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/fi…
Your Firefox 4 will resemble mostly Firefox 3 with it, without the ugly default 4 looks. Hope that helps.
this is shit (firefox 4 layout, not the article)
if you have the tabs on the bottom (which I prefer a lot more) then it's got a grey fill background, but the address bar and above is transparent (Windows 7 Aero)
it only looks good if you have the tabs on top, which I don't want
seems Firefox are trying to force users to use their crappy new "innovative" stuff which nobody actually wants
I'm sick of this, and will probably switch to Chrome
