iPhone OS 3.1.2 Firmware Update Direct Download Links

Apple has released the new firmware update for iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch, that is iPhone OS 3.1.2. The new version of iPhone OS 3.1.2 addresses several issues and problems for both iPhone and iPod Touch, and thus is recommended to upgrade. The new firmware version 3.1.2 is now available for download on iTunes 9.0.

iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone contains the following bug fixes and improvements (changelog):

• Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep.
• Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart.
• Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.

The updated firmware 3.1.2 for iPod touch contains the following bug fixes and enhancements (changelog):

• Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPod touch to not wake from sleep.
• Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.

The iPhone OS firmware 3.1 was just been released last month, and introduced many new features, security fixes, and enhancements such as Genius features. However, iPhone OS 3.1 is reported to have power consumption issue and more buggy than iPhone OS version 3.0, and iPhone OS 3.1.2 is hoped to address these issues.

Note that upgrading to new iPhone firmware OS version 3.1.2 will break existing jailbreak and unlock. Thus, iPhone and iPod touch owners who jailbreak and unlock their device should not upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1.2 yet until jailbreaking and unlocking mechanism for version 3.1.2 becomes available.

To upgrade iPhone and iPod touch, just connect the mobile device to PC and start iTunes. The update message should automatically appear. Users can also download the individual standalone iPhone/iPod Firmware Update file (IPSW) for manual offline updating using the direct download links below:
