HideOutlook – Minimize Microsoft Outlook to System Tray
If you use Microsoft Outlook especially during work, most of the time you will keep it opening and running so that you can read emails as soon as they arrive and also to get other notifications like meeting, task with reminders and etc. However, sometimes you may encounter such a situation where too many applications are opened simultaneously until your taskbar get crowded and if you are looking for ways on how to minimize some applications to elsewhere so that the taskbar is not fully occupied, HideOutlook could be the right solution for you. HideOutlook is an Outlook extension that is able to minimize Outlook to system tray while keeping them running at background.
HideOutlook is a freeware that is able to minimize outlook to system tray instead of taskbar. Once you have installed and launched it, it will stay at system tray silently. To minimize Outlook to system tray, just right click on the tray icon follow by choosing Hide Outlook, then Outlook will be disappeared from taskbar and minimize to system tray. Alternatively, you can hide Outlook to system tray by minimizing the window. Another good feature that is worth to be highlighted here is you don’t even need to go to Outlook to perform some tasks like creating email message, post, appointment, task, contact, journal entry, note and what you need to do is just right clicking on the tray icon, then choose Create and a list of tasks will be listed as shown below.
You can display the Outlook at anytime if you want such as for email checking, just right click on the tray icon and choose Show Outlook.
HideOutlook ver 1.0.18 is absolutely free to download and is compatible to run on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. Consumed only 5.6 MB of memory usage.

Guys chill out, this tip is useful for Outlook XP/2002/2000. The native capability to minimize to system tray appeared first in Outlook 2003.

In MS Outlook 2007 the feature already built in, you can just right click the icon and choose “hide when minimize”

Agreed. This is completely pointless and more effort than using Outlook’s built-in capability. How many years is this behind? Maybe Outlook 97 didn’t minimize to the system tray – I don’t know?

Whats the point of this? Outlook does this natively by setting the option about minimisation…not only that it forces outlook to release memory.
