New Sony Alpha Full-Frame DSLR-A850 Camera With Dual BIONZ Engines And Intelligent Preview

Sony has announced the availability of its new full-frame alpha DSLR-A850 camera, which features 24.6-megapixel full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor, 3″ Xtra Fine LCD screen (921k), dual BIONZ processing engines and SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization, capturing 24.6 MP photos at up to 3 frames per second thanks to its high-speed continuous shooting capability.

• Dual BIONZ processing engines offers high-speed continuous shooting of 24.6 megapixel images at up to 3 frames per second
• Innovative intelligent preview function lets users determine the best level and effect of dynamic range optimization, adjust exposure compensation and check histogram data, all before they actually capture the picture
• High-accuracy 9-point AF system with 10 focus assist points for improved tracking of moving subjects
• Ultra-bright viewfinder with 98% field of view coverage and 0.74x magnification
• Body-integrated SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization achieves an anti-shake effect equivalent to shutter speeds faster by 2.5 to 4 stops
• Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) with 5 levels of user-selectable correction
• DRO bracketing for enhanced scene analysis and graduation optimization
• Memory slots for high-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, HX series and CompactFlash media

“Sony is bringing the benefits of a full-frame digital SLR camera to a broader group of consumers,” said Kristen Elder, director of the Digital Imaging business, Sony Electronics. “The a850 strengthens Sony’s alpha DSLR line, which now offers models in each step from high-end professional down to the amateur enthusiast.”

The newest Sony DSLR-A850 camera which measures 156 x 117 x 82 mm and weights in at 850g is scheduled to be available in coming September for around $2,000 (body only). In addition, Sony also announced its new 28-75mm F2.8 SAM lens (SAL2875), ideal for photographers looking for bright, general purpose zoom, slated to hit the market in November 2009 for approximately $800.
