Download Outlook Connector for Office 2010
Some users might have joined the Redmond Company’s Technical Preview of Office 2010 to access the pre-released versions of Microsoft Office 2010 suite such as Excel 2010, Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Outlook 2010, OneNote 2010, Access 2010, SharePoint Workspace 2010, Visio 2010, SharePoint Designer 2010, InfoPath 2010 and Publisher 2010. Users who have tested Outlook 2010 should have noticed that Outlook 2010 under the Technical Preview package does not work with the shipping version of the Outlook Connector (Version 12). Users fail to connect and synchronize their Windows Live Hotmail account in the latest Outlook 2010 with this version even though this version works well with both Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
To allow users to use Outlook 2010 to access and manage their Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail or Microsoft Office Live Mail accounts including e-mail messages, contacts and calendars, Microsoft has quietly released an updated version of Outlook Connector for Office 2010 under the Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview suite. Users who use Office 2010 can download the free application via the following links:
Tip: A workaround to install Outlook Connector for Office 2010 for user who can’t install Outlook Connector on system with Office 2010 Beta or Technical Preview.

This Connector worked perfectly with the Office 2010 Technical Preview. It recognized Outlook 2010, all went well. I suggest people just get a valid copy of Office 2010 and stop whining.

Hola no es necesario instalar el outlook connector, solo seguir estos pasos, que aunque estan en ingless, son faciles de traducir, ami me funciona.
It’s not neccessary to install the Outlook Connector in order to add a hotmail account to Outlook 2010. You can just do it by setting up a Pop3 account. Only difference is that it doesn’t receive your created folders, only the inbox.
Use the following settings:
- username: your complete emailadres : example@hotmail.com
- password: as usual
- Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
- Outgoing server: smtp.live.com
Check the box in front of “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)”
Then go to “more settings” and the “Advanced” Tab.
- For the incoming Server use port 995
- Check the box in front of the SSL sentence
- as SMTP-port use 587 and with “use the following type of encrypted connection” select “TLS” out of the dropdown menu.
That should do the trick!

Mark is correct. When I try to install the Connector, I get a message that The connector requires Outlook 2003, 2007 or 2010 (even though 2010 is installed). I can retrieve and send email using to POP 3 method, but it does not give me access to my MSN.Com email folders which I use for storing my email, no matter what the email account.
