OMG thank you sooooo much! I used the link in comment #9 to get the 3.1 update, and it worked perfectly, without deleting any of my old files. This is amazing, I was so annoyed of how you had to pay $4.95 to update it, and almost every single app needs the new software. But now, I can download it! Appreciate this very much.

Hey guys i was just wondering if any of you have actually tried and have been succesful of updating your ipod touch to firmware 3.0 without restoring?

I got a problem. everytime i press Shift and click update, this itunes small window thing comes up. thn they show a file from my “shared documents”. they never showed me any thing that says download.

i hope someone can help cuz i really want an updated version of ipod touch. thanks

It doesnt seem to work…it shows a msg “verifying ipod update on apple” and then an error msg pops saying the ipod cant be updated.

I want to get this thing working.

i havent lost anything though!!

my ipod touch got stuck in recovery mode while doing the free process, i cant remember wat firmware i had beofre i went on about this, but i know i got a error message that side it couldnt be updated, SO NOW WAT DO I DO??? I
Need my Itouch Back Working.. & I Dont Want To Lose All My Apps, Music, Videos, Etc…

as soon as i shift+restore or shift+update i get a new window asking ‘do you want to restore to factory settings” or “contact apple server to know more about update” respectively.
i dont get to locate and choose the file downloaded.even if i just leave the above two windows like that and click on file downloaded nothing happens.please help me out.
