Win Ten Grand With Internet Explorer 8
As a promotional and marketing strategy for its Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser, Microsoft Australia has launched a “Ten Grand Is Buried Here” competition to attract users to download and use IE8 to win 10,000 Australia dollars. Users who want to take the chance to win the lucrative prize need to download and upgrade their browser to Windows Internet Explorer 8. Users will thence have to follow @tengrand_IE8 on Twitter for daily clues that point to the buried loot. Clues will be released at random times from Friday 19th June. Based on the clues given, users can analyse and try to locate where the 10 grand is hidden by the Redmond company. The correct webpage where the money is hidden can only be opened and viewed with IE8. Clicking on the “Claim” button will lead users to win the 10 thousand Australia dollars from Microsoft.
Users who want to take part in this competition can register themselves at the Microsoft Australia IE8 competition page. Users have to make sure they are using IE8 to browse the page or they will be prompted with a message “.you’ll never find it with old Firefox…”. The competition is only opened to Australian residents aged 16 and above. The prize winner will be announced at 11:00am (Sydney time) on September 18, 2009 at 1 Epping Road, North Ryde, NSW, 2113.
