There are 2 windows mail entries in win7 x64, 1 under program files x86 and another under x64, you can try 1st to port it to the x86 folder and see if works.

I have several 32-bit and one 64-bit system. Just upgraded all to Windows 7. I remembered to backup the entire Windows Mail File on Vista 32-bit, but forgot to backup the complete file on the 64-bit system. If someone could post a live link to it again, I would appreciate it. The others seem to be dead. Thanks.

downloaded the 2 winrar files you created amster and extracted them. But they do the same thing as what I had. When I open the winmail program I get "thousands" of processes running and no program. Eventually the OS just hangs and I have to reboot or if I can get into the taskmanger soon enough I can stop the process tree and continue on.

Is this because I have win7 64bit?

Does anyone have any other ideas.

Message for MG:

To change the permission - first take ownership.

To do this, right click on the folder. Select properties. Then select security. Then click advanced. Then click the OWNER tab. Then Click EDIT. Now select Administrator or your username in the screen as the new owner. Check the box where it says "replace owner on subcontainers and objects". Now click Apply if available - else ok. And again click apply if avaialble else OK. And finally again click apply if available else OK.

You had to go through that process first.

Now you can go back in again, Right click the folder - select properties. Select the security tab. Click on EDIT. Now give yourself FULL CONTROL!

Let me know how this goes for you - it's the least you can do !

Need entire windows mail program please. I want to try the whole process again cleanly.

Have 64bit Win 7, tried uploading the msoe.dll (64 bit) after fixing all permissions. imported the reg fix. Windows Mail just hangs when you try to open it. When it finally times out it says msoe.dll has a problem. I've tried regsvc32 to reregister the file but that throws an error saying the file failed to load. The specified module can't be found. I got task manager to run after several minutes and found over 3700 tasks, over 3600 of them were winmail.exe - end tasked these to get the laptop back in operation.

The System & admistrator have all rights, so I dont' think there's a permissions issue any more. But I think there might be some sort of corruption.

Would really like to get this client working.

Windows Mail is still part of W7:
<strong>C:\Program Files\Windows Mail</strong>

WinMail ReActivation:
- take over ownership of msoem.dll
- replace W7's msoe.dll with the one from Vista
- add Win7owsMail.reg to Registy

I've done it manually via the Properties dialog...
you can also take a shortcut:
<a href="http://rapidshare.com/files/303751628/GrantAdminFullControl.reg" title="GrantAdminFullControl" rel="nofollow"> GrantAdminFullControl.REG </a>
