Adding /prefetch:1 is complete BS. It WILL NOT load FireFox any faster, but may slow it down.

The “#” entry defines app type (as in what’s being executed — Video/Audio/etc. for apps like Windows Media Player that are “aware”) it’s just added to the hash file, local DNS. Do not add it. The backlash is some apps will hang and lock-up the system, others will take longer to load.

This has been debunked numerous times, but has been slow to spread.

Do not forget to leave a space after the astrisk and before the /. you should then press OK and restart Firefox. It worked for me.

“C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” /prefetch:1
