the problem I have with method is in checking for updates from Microsoft. The check always indicates that SP2 is not installed and wants to download and install it, even though looking in the properties of the installed Office suite clearly shows SP2 is installed.

Why would you want to add space on purpose when it is not needed? Since the SP1 is not required for integrating SP2 why leave SP1 in there? A plain SP2 install is better than leaving SP1 files in the Update Folder that are not even needed. You may not store much on your hard drive, but I do. Here and there saving some MB's can add up after a while. It would fit on a CD if it were compressed. Now don't tell me you cannot install it then when it is compressed. However I prefer plain installations. You do what you want and I do the way I want it. So on...Greetz!

If you have Office 2007 RTM you don't have to delete anything. If you have Office 2007 SP1 with the SP1 already integrated go to the Update Folder and delete the files inside it. Then after that do the above step for SP2 integration. You do NOT need SP1 to be able to integrate SP2! By doing it this way it saves you space and I can verfify it works 100%. I done it and I installed it without any bugs or errors. Perfect.

Hey Admin,

I need an answer to this: I have Office RTM. Do I need to deploy SP1 and then SP2 in Updates folder, or just SP2?

EDIT:

Testing: I have tried both ways (SP1 + SP2)which works! But the office is about 1,18 GB then.

Testing 2: I have deleted the Update files of SP1 in the Update Folder of the Office 2007, then I applied directly SP2! That works too and the Office Folder gets under 950 MB which is good. Saves Space. So both ways work for me. I installed both versions without any problem! I hope I was able to help!
