New Technology to Recognize Languages with Lip Reading Capability in PC System
A group of researchers in University of East Anglia has developed a new technology that can be used to read lip motions and identify which specific languages are being spoken by individual accurately. Some of the common languages that can be recognized include English, Mandarin, German, French, Russian, Italian and many more that make it suitable to be used across different regions without limitation.
The technology development is based on modeling of 23 bilingual or trilingual personnel that manage to recognize multiple languages without any miss. More importantly, it proves one thing that each language has its own characteristics and can be identified through combination of mouse shape, lip and jaw movement with consistency.
The feature could be combined with previously mentioned eye flavor facial recognition technology developed for digital signage system so that the advertisers will have better understanding on consumers’ response with the hope that a specific advertisement can be tailored to meet the consumers’ needs more specifically.
