Hello,
On my Windows 7 computer it started to say started to say: cannot find C:\Windows\System32\Config\Desktop. And the sidebar would not start because it said that the .ini file was in use. So i did a system restore. It now works, but, the action center icon doesn’t show up unless you turn off all system icons, apply, close the notification window, and then then wait for a while, then it will show, and then you have to turn all the system icons on again. I don’t know what’s wrong, any ideas? I dual boot Vista and Windows7, the trouble started after I restored a onecare backup on the Vista Partition, and I burned a couple of DVDs, would that have affected it?

I disabled it using the group policy editor. GPEDIT.MSC. Under administrative templates\start menu and taskbar you can enable\disable all sorts of things.
