VideoCrawler – A New Media Content Search Engine By AT&T

AT&T is now venturing into a video search engine by launching its new VideoCrawler, a site that aggregates multimedia contents from more than 1600 sites. VideoCrawler has indexed these multimedia contents and allows users to make searches for various media types such as video, radio, internet radio, internet TV, etc in a more organized way. Users can find the hottest videos from video sites such as YouTube, Google Video, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, MySpaceTV from this one stop center. Besides conducting media searches, VideoCrawler also assists users to manage and share their favorite media collection. Registered users can save and organize their favorite web media, share the media with friends via email, create their media playlists, submit comments, etc. However, users cannot add content to VideoCrawler themselves. VideoCrawler is basically doing the indexing but it does not support the upload of video.

Similar to other search engines, VideoCrawler also uses algorithms to analyze factors like popularity and subject matter as well as freshness to determine the best content.
