Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging Innovation
Many users would have experienced frustration when they try to remove the annoying twist-ties and the ridiculous hard plastic containers that probably only hold minuscule items such as memory cards. Besides frustration, this has also wasted a lot of resources. Thanks to Amazon’s new innovative program, “Frustration Free Packaging”, removing packaging can be a more hassle-free experience.
Amazon has initiated and launched its “Frustration-Free Packaging” program together with 19 best-selling products from Amazon from reputable manufacturers such as Fisher-Price, Mattel, Microsoft and electronics manufacturer Transcend. There are no changes to the product and everything will be the same. Amazon has just streamlined their packaging and made the packages easier to open. The Fisher-Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship will be one of the first products chosen in this program. It will be repackaged in a recyclable and easy-to-open cardboard box. This new packaging manages to eliminate 36 inches of plastic-coated wire ties, 1,576.5 square inches of printed corrugated package inserts, 36.1 square inches of printed folding carton materials, 175.25 square inches of PVC blisters, 3.5 square inches of ABS molded styrene and two molded plastic fasteners.
With the “Frustration-Free Packaging”, it kills two birds with one stone. It minimizes users’ frustration to open a product and reduces costs significantly while using less packaging materials. This environmental friendly program will also encourage individuals and other businesses to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to improve the environment issues. Poor environmental practices world-wide have led to a degradation of our water, air and land as well as wasting our precious natural resources. Thus, thumbs up to Amazon for paving the way to become an environmentally friendly and responsible corporation.
