Send Free Text Message With Hundreds of Email to SMS Gateway or Internet Web SMS from Operator

SMS or text message is one of the golden egg that generates more and more revenue for most mobile or cellphone service carrier or network operator around the world. One of the reason for big money been made from text messaging service is that it’s actually not so cheap to send a SMS from your hand phone, especially when one is SMS-addict who can’t stop sending text messages.

Lesser known is that, most telecommunication companies do provide free email to text service or web SMS feature. Email to text service delivers the content of the mail message to the recipient’s cellphone as SMS text message, while WebSMS allows users to send SMS from a web form. Both email-to-text or email-to-sms service and Internet SMS service allows users or people without a mobile cell phone to send SMS to the recipients for free, such as trick used by iPhone users to send free text SMS.

However, the usefulness of e-mail-to-text service is not ended just for free SMS delivery. It’s also helpful for user who wants to receive SMS or text notification instead of email notification of alerting system without investing in standalone SMS or text messaging gateway. User can forward the email alert or reminder to phone carrier’s email address to receive message in phone directly instead of sending to normal email address mailbox.

Here’s a list of email addresses or web URL to use for various cellphone service network operator in order to deliver the message via test message or SMS to intended recipients for free. As it’s direct service provided by the cellular network telcos, the delivery of text messages is considered to be reliable, but not guaranteed though. Note that some service provider may require recipient (cellphone owner) to pay for each text message or SMS received, or require the subscribers to activate the email-to-text (SMS) service beforehand.

Note: from, msg, and total means number of characters to deliver in SMS text taken from the sender and content. Number means the phone number of the intended recipient. For USA (United States), the phone number consists of 10-digit numbers.

Just an update to the Bell Mobility (Canada) address you published above… this doesn’t work for my phone as it appears to be the way to send email to text for US customers. On the Bell Mobility Canada site, the address is listed as “10-digits@txt.bell.ca”. Do NOT use the leading “1″ as indicated.

While this is a comprehensive list, I think that it’s tedious to have to use this format to send a text message from the internet. There are tons of free services that take the hassle out of it. I like textreminders.net the best. It’s free, it’s easy to use and you can send recurring reminders to yourself.

I tried it and this is what I got.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    pipe to |/home/smsdeliv/send_sms_4.0.pl -m
    generated by smsdeliv@text.plusgsm.pl
Child process of address_pipe transport (running command “/home/smsdeliv/send_sms_4.0.pl -m”) was terminated by signal 25 (File size limit exceeded)

Using PlusGSM (Poland). They have a free message gateway anyhow… but thanks for the heads up. My wife loved it when we was in the US and she could send me an EMAIL SMS, and we have been hoping for this here while we are living in POLAND. No luck.

    Chuck
