You might also want to disable the “Google Update” plugin if you have it installed in a browser like Firefox under “Tools->Add-ins”.

The program has an option to disable automatic update, but it is a fake.

Well atleast now I’m rid of it.. Now on to figuring out how I got it in the first place!
Update and Crash reports were all that was in the google folder.. Nothing from google has ever been installed before this showed up without reason today, just as IE7 crashed..

Good post. I’m still torn as to whether I *should* remove it or not. It only takes up 1.5MB. I am a stickler for system performance though
