Disable Google Suggest In The Search Box
Google Suggest is a useful default feature which can predict what users type in the search box and offer relevant suggestions in real time. For instance, if you type “home” in the search box, Google Suggest will immediately offer you a list of suggestions started with home, e.g. “homebase”, “home office”, “home for sale”, “home insurance”, “home goods” ,etc. You could just click on the relevant search word/phase if it appears in the list to get the search results. This default feature surely will enhance your internet experience. Or will it? Do you find the second guessing a nuisance instead? If you don’t feel Google Suggest is helpful but irritating, just switch it off.

Google Suggest
How to switch off or disable your Google Suggest feature? The process is pretty simple. Just go to the Google Preference Page, look for the “Query Suggestions” section which is located at the bottom of the page and check “Do not provide query suggestions in the search box”.

Check “Do not provide query suggestions in the search box”

I don’t have the option to turn off the suggestions as there isn’t a “Query Suggestion” box appearing, and I agree these popups are F*&^%$g annoying. If you use Google as your home page reste it to http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0
So far so good and no annoying suggestions – just hope it stays that way.

Disabling googlesuggest in preferences page and saving does not work. Its useless. Is google sufficient sensitive to look in the problem?

The response is wrong. The preference keeps getting reset to the default. So now every time I use google I am not only distracted by a bunch of popup text (the suggestions, none of which I want), but then I’m further distracted by having to go to the preferences page and reset my preference!
I think its useful to suggest text that I searched for previously, but to suggest a bunch of text simply because it’s similar to what I’ve written so far is annoying and worthless.

But just going to the Google Preference Page is an inconvenience. They should have a checkbox to switch it on or off on the front page.
