mp3 files only….connect your phone you will see a window pop up click on the icon view files.
now! you will see the file inside your phone, images, music, ring tones etc etc…don’t touch anything in this window…keep it open.
Now! go to start in the left of your screen, click on my music…. if you don’t see my music on that window… go to your documents you will find it there…remember what you looking for is your music or music…go into the music file… OK!!! now you have 2 windows open for better view tile the windows horizontally …
NOTE: you can tile windows by placing mouse on toolbar on the bottom of the screen and then right click on it…
NOTE
this step is not necessary but it is used full…
now!!!! that you see 2 windows open ….drag the song you want by right clicking on it and hold until place in top of the file my music on the phone window …it is simple …do the same for ringtones drag your music on the ring tone file and you are done.

Are there ANY drivers available for this phone? WinXP does not have a driver, and nothing around seems to work. Samsung PC Studio cannot connect to the phone. I would like to manage my contacts as I had 500 stored when the phone fell into water. I bought a new one, but don’t want to enter the contacts 1-by-1 again; MetroPCS could NOT transfer the contacts.

The problem with connecting the phone to an XP machine is that XP does not recognize the device. So, ERIC, your obnoxious comment about clueless people is wrong. It is not that they don’t know how to work it, it is that they cannot get connectivity.
Any drivers for XP available?

Can you put music on this phone using a Mac?
May 9th, 2009 01:02
I also have a 4gb SD Card in my Samsung. Never had a Problem Transfering Files, Mp3 or Image. I must Be LUCKY!!!

The USB is the charger slot. Use a 2gig memmory card, or you will fry your phone.

Where exactly is the USB port? I thought this phone didnt have one. The only slot I can find is the memory card one in the back.

You can also transfer files via bluetooth with a mac. I’ve successfully done this, although you need to have your phone plugged in, and it’s a bit slow (150 kb/sec max)

I don’t see why so many people here and other places I’ve read are having such issues getting ringtones on this phone. You can either connect to a PC via USB and copy them into the My_Sounds or My_Ringtones folder on an installed microsd card. If those folders don’t exist then you didn’t format the card with the phone, simply create them yourself. Also most providers have an email -> SMS/MMS gateway (example @mymetropcs.com), you can then simply send an email to that address with a ringtone as an attachment and save it to the phones internal memory when you receive the message on the phone. As to the person describing a 10 step breakdown about putting music on this phone claiming it takes 3 hours, that is simply ridiculous. It’s as simple as dragging and dropping your music into the My_Music folder while the phone is connected to a pc via USB, it’s quick and simple. No offense but it seems that a lot of really clueless people have this particular phone :/

Thanks for the MP3 help. I was getting frustrated until I saw how easy it is to complete. Kudos!

Seriously this is no joke… I used to know how to do this and I forgot… It took forever the first time I figured it out and now that I know I wrote myself a memo so I never forget again. I wanted to share it with all of you so you don’t have to aimlessly press buttons on your phone thinking you are doing the right things and get ridiculously frustrated…
Here’s the secrets… First of all you have to have a Micro sd Card in order to do this!!!
How to get mp3’s on your phone from a computer-
Step 1) Download the music from where ever it is you download from
Either click on multiple files at one time by clicking and draging down or do them one by one, either way, have both My_Music and Your preferred download program up at the same time. (If you can’t see them both at the same time, you didn’t do it right) Click and drag them from your preferred downloading program to the My_Music folder. They will copy by themselves. (Don’t do too many at one time because it will stall your computer and you will have to do it all over again)
Step 2) Plug your phone in the provided USB cord
Step 3) Click out of everything your phone automatically brings up
Step 4) Go into My Computer
Step 5) Go into My_Music
Step 6) Click the “Restore Down” Button in the My_Music folder. If you don’t know what the “Restore Down” button is… You can find it by looking in the top right hand corner where you see the “x”, it is the middle button.
Step 7) Click the “Restore Down” button on whatever program you use for downloading music. i.e Limewire, Napster, iTunes
Step
Step 9) Close out the folder and unplug your phone!!
Step 10) You now have music on your phone!!!!
How to Copy music from a memory card to your phone-
Step 1)Go into Menu
Step 2)Go to Memory Info
Step 3)Card Memory
Step 4)Go into Ringtones
Step 5)Click Options
Step 6)Clock Copy
Step 7)Choose the songs you want as ringtones
Step 8)Click Done
Step 9)Click Yes
Step 10) LOVE THE NEW MUSIC THAT TOOK YOU 3 HOURS TO GET ON YOUR PHONE!!!!
I know this will help anyone who is having problems with the stupid Samsung Messenger r450!!!!
Enjoy!!!

im still not understanding why people keep saying that the phone can only hold up to a 2gb sd card.As of right not i have a 4 gb in mine with 3.1 gb used an it shows all the songs and pix on it with no glitches ….so save ur time buy a 4 gb card
February 25th, 2009 07:04
thanx trent for the info…i was losing my mind…
February 23rd, 2009 04:55
Guys, all you have to do is buy a 2 gig microSD card for the phone, format that card with the phone, connect the phone to your PC via USB, and your PC will instantly recognize the microSD card and you can put all the mp3s and mp3-ringtones on it that you want.

im trying to connect my usb to my pc but it wont connect i have the r450 …what do i do now…
February 22nd, 2009 06:01
This would be because MetroPCS locks their firmware up (as do other carriers) so you’re forced to buy ringtones/wallpapers/games through their vendors… found ways around this with motorola but no luck yet with htis samsung…
