Tiny Sexual and Pornography Image Thumbnails Can Appear in Google

Imogen BaileyGoogle can provide image search results which showing nude thumbnail-size photos from sexually explicit adult internet sites or pornography sites, ruled the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco by a three-judge panel. In year 2006, a US lower court Los Angeles District Court concluded that Google’s thumbnail images violated the copyright of adult magazine and Web publisher Perfect 10 Inc, and granted a partial preliminary injunction that had prohibited Google from displaying thumbnail-size photographs of images owned by Perfect 10 Inc. that other sites had improperly posted. But the injunction was stayed pending further legal review, which meant Google continued to display the thumbnail naked sex images.

Google Universal Search

This past Wednesday, Google unveiled a new “universal search” function that integrates text, photos, video, news, scanned books and blogs in a single list of results. The search engine will automatically check Google Video’s archive and allow users to click on a “watch video’ link that will embed the video right on the search results page.

Google Integrates Web, Books, Local, Images, News and Videos as Universal Search

Google announced in its “Searchology” briefing event to the media that it’s combining search results from other Google web search services and properties including regular web search results, books, local information, images, news, and video to provide to users directly from regular web search form, said Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Search and User Experience. Previously, these results are separated and provided by specialty search engines from Google, where most users don’t even know of their existence.

Samsung Develops 8GB MicroSD Memory Card

The South Korea consumer electronic giant, Samsung has announced that it has developed a new 8GB microSD memory card which is a quarter the size of SD (Secure Digital) card for mobile phones recently. This 8GB fingernail-sized MicroSD card can store up to 2,000 MP3 files, 4,000 digital photos or around five DVD-quality movies. Besides, the MicroSD memory card can be used in an extender for use in full-size SD slots which widely used in electronic devices to allow multimedia files downloaded by multimedia mobile phones to be easily displayed on other media.

FCC Approves iPhone

The Federal Communications Commission approved Apple’s iPhone, clearing the way for the combined phone and music player to hit the shelves. Apple expects to begin selling the iPhone in late June.

Some of the FCC documents confirm a few features of the phone, including it will have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and will operate in the 1900MHz and 850MHz frequency bands.

Nintendo Wii Outselling Sony PS3

Yesterday, the NPD Group released video game hardware sales data for April. Nintendo’s Wii and DS consoles were again the big winners, as both platforms dominated all competitors. This marks the 4th month in a row that Nintendo has nabbed the top spots with its respective systems on the hardware sales charts.
