IBM ThinkPad Think Vantage Active Protection System 1.52

aps.jpgIBM has released its Active Protection System (APS) Version 1.52 for its notebooks using ThinkVantage Techonologies. IBM’s Active Protection System is not the latest technology from IBM. ThinkPad R50 and T41 have featured this technology for quite some time. The APS is a protection system for the ThinkPads’ internal hard drive. When a ThinkPad notebook is accelerated, the sensor inside the notebook will trigger a software applet to park the hard disk properly. The risk of data loss will be reduced in the event the notebook is dropped hard.

Buffalo Portable Hard Drive With Turbo Mode

The Japanese company, Buffalo has introduced its latest portable external hard drive which running through the USB port and comes with “turbo mode” that can effectively transmits and receives data at 20% faster than the normal HDD. With turbo mode, the external hard disk cano now operate at speeds of up to 40 Mbps, according to Buffalo. Besides, the company claims that its latest portable hard drive which codename as HD-PSGU2 is comes with shock-resistant bumper body.

Windows Live Hotmail

windows1.jpgMicrosoft has unveiled its free web-based email, Windows Live Hotmail. Windows Live Hotmail is in Beta version and it is available worldwide in 36 languages. This new email features quite similar to Microsoft’s desktop-based Outlook program, including the ability to drag and drop into folders. Users can also import contacts from Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express to this new Hotmail.

LG.Philips Develops 4-Inch Active Matrix OLED

LG.Philips LCD has announced that it has developed the first full-color flexible 4-inch active matrix (AM) OLED (organic light emitting diode) display that’s barely thicker than a human hair at just 150 μm thick. Besides, the flexible AMOLED display which uses a film of organic compounds to emit light features 320×240 QVGA resolution can reproduce 16.77 million colors in a high-quality image.
