IBM ThinkPad Think Vantage Active Protection System 1.52

IBM has released its Active Protection System (APS) Version 1.52 for its notebooks using ThinkVantage Techonologies. IBM’s Active Protection System is not the latest technology from IBM. ThinkPad R50 and T41 have featured this technology for quite some time. The APS is a protection system for the ThinkPads’ internal hard drive. When a ThinkPad notebook is accelerated, the sensor inside the notebook will trigger a software applet to park the hard disk properly. The risk of data loss will be reduced in the event the notebook is dropped hard.

Microsoft has unveiled its free web-based email, Windows Live Hotmail. Windows Live Hotmail is in Beta version and it is available worldwide in 36 languages. This new email features quite similar to Microsoft’s desktop-based Outlook program, including the ability to drag and drop into folders. Users can also import contacts from Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express to this new Hotmail.
