For instance, on a 100GB hard disk, 10% works out to be 10GB. A total of 10GB reserved space for Recycle Bin might be too huge.

Create Symbolic Links, Hard Links and Directory Junctions in Vista with MKLINK

For Unix-like or Linux system users, symbolic link is a common feature in use almost daily. Symbolic link (aka soft link) or symlink as it often shortened to, is a special type of file or file-system object that serves as a reference or points to another file, UNC or directory, known as target. In Windows Vista, symlinks feature has been added to NTFS filesystem and can be created by using MKLINK command. In previous Windows operating system, the closer thing to symbolic links is NTFS junction point, or worse, Windows shell shortcut (.lnk) file.

Microsoft to Acquire aQuantive

Last week, Microsoft announced the largest acquisition in its history, purchasing Seattle-based interactive ad firm aQuantive for $6 billion in what it describes is the next step in the evolution of its ad network.

aQuantive is the holding company for several online ad firms including Atlas, DRIVEpm and Avenue A/Razorfish, one of the largest interactive ad agencies. The deal is the latest in a string of large acquisitions in the internet ad space (Google/DoubleClick, WPP/24/7Real Media, Yahoo/Right Media) as online advertising increasingly becomes the lynchpin of many new web-based businesses.

Yahoo Bidding For Bebo

Rumors about social networking site Bebo being for sale come up every few months. First it was British Telecom for $550 million in July 2006 (TechCrunch started that one), then the Financial Times reported they were in talks with Viacom a month later. Now, The UK’s Telegraph is reporting that Yahoo is looking, and may pay as much as $1 billion.

Yahoo would have bid as high as $1.6 billion for Facebook last year according to leaked documents. But Bebo, while large and growing, is far smaller than Facebook. And it’s also smaller than Hi5, Orkut, Friendster and Tagged, according to Comscore.

Watch YouTube on Your Apple TV

Here’s a YouTube video showing off a new Apple TV plug-in called “A Series of Tubes.” The plug-in allows you to browse YouTube videos on your Apple TV. Sure, the Flash encoded YouTube videos look like crap on a HDTV. YouTube doesn’t even look good when stretched out to its default 480 x 360, let alone 640 x 480 or HD. But YouTube does have thousands of clips and can provide endless hours of entertainment.
