Avoid, Disable or Fix IE Click or Press Spacebar or Enter to Activate and Use This Control Message

When browsing web pages on Internet using Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) or Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) web browser in Windows XP or Windows Vista, visitors may encounters some embedded ActiveX controls or web components that are deactivated or placed into non-interactive frame by default. When mouse over the object, a tooltip message Click to activate and use this control will appear. Or another warning message Press SPACEBAR or ENTER to activate and use this control may also be shown.



Users are require to click on the ActiveX control in order to activate the component and allow users to interact with the object interactively. The embedded applications that are subjected to “click to activate” behavior on IE browser include Flash based object such as Flash streaming video and Flash animation, Java applet, map engines, PDF reader helper, streaming TV channel player control and other IE add-ons.

To disable the “Click to activate and use this control” or “Press SPACEBAR or ENTER to activate and use this control” on Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 web browser when visiting websites that contains embedded ActiceX controls or add-on components, simply download and install Internet Explorer Automatic Component Activation (IE ACA) Update which will remove the “Click to activate” behavior from IE web browser. If you doesn’t want to refresh update the IE now, simply turn on the Automatic Update or check for updates after April 2008, as this inconvenient feature will become history, as Microsoft will roll out the update for general public comes April 2008 next year.
