Toshiba Announces New SCiB Super Charge ion Battery
The well-known Japan-based multinational conglomerate manufacturing company, Toshiba has announced the commercial launch of its breakthrough rechargeable battery, named as SCiB (Super Charge ion Battery). These amazing new SCiB batteries can recharge to 90% of full capacity in less than 5 minutes and even offers an excellent safety and a long-life cycle of over 10 years.
“This is a truly innovative battery,” said Mr. Toshiharu Watanabe, Corporate Vice President of Toshiba Corporation and Chief Executive Officer of Toshiba’s Industrial Systems Company. “The excellent performance of the SCiB will assure its successful application in industrial systems and in the electronic vehicles markets as a new energy solution. In terms of environmental impacts, the SCiB offers a long life that will reduce waste.”
“Toshiba will ride with the trend set by automobile companies. When hybrids and electric cars become prevalent, the SCiB will probably be applied to them,” said Shoshi Kawatsu, General Manager of Toshiba. “We will continue to advance development in this area so that when other companies launch their own batteries we will be ahead.”
According to the company, the new Toshiba SCiB battery will be ready for industrial uses from March of 2008.
