Prunella, I don't know what happened, but it all works fine on Vista. No generic Es or anything... It adjusts to custom size and all the custom icons are still there.

[...] If your icons are large because of a setting, then try the following — http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/12/09/how-to-resize-and-change-vista-desktop-icons-size/ [...]

Is it possible to change the size of the print (font) when printing from a page where it doesn't give you that option. For instance I printed an airline itinerary from the webside and the print was so small that it was difficult to read. Please advise as to how I go about this. Thanks so much for your help. I am so old and there is so much to learn.

My cat sat on my laptop, somehow changing all icons and programs into big icons and font (so that parts of my games go outside the borders and Word is automatically about 130%)! How can I readjust this?

THANK YOU!

I was using the classic menu to change icon sizes and it created all kinds of problems with 120 DPI. This solved all the problems I was having. Wish I found this site sooner!

Right click (mouse button) on empty space on desktop. Left click "Personalize". Left Click "Window color ans Appearance". Left click "Open classic appearance properties for more color options". An appearance settings window should now appear (looks very much like XP). Left click the "Advanced" button. Advanced Appearance window pops up. look for "Item:". Underneath you will see "Desktop". Left click. A list will appear. Select "Icon". Now you can change icon size as well as the font and its size.

Both Normal and Trivial methods only work with some of the desktop shortcut icons, the rest just turn into big generic e thingies. Plus you lose any of the customized "Changed Icons' set through properties.

There should be a better way to do this, it's the 21st century after all ;-)
