TAG Heuer Mobile Phone
The famous Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is now going to mobile phone market! An announcement from TAG revealed that the company will partner with the French custom phone maker, ModeLabs, to produce a completely new design mobile phone under the brand name of TAG Heuer. The first TAG Heuer mobile phone will be out to the market tentatively in the second half of 2008.
TAG Heuer is a division of leading luxury goods company LVMH. The company has strong and long connection with automobile racing, especially with McLaren Mercedes team. Several Formula One drivers and world famous athletes such as F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Maria Sharapova, Tiger Wood, etc are employed by TAG Heuer as brand ambassadors.
The emergence of TAG Heuer mobile phone will create a niche market for fashion lovers. But how far the TAG Heuer mobile phone can break into the conventional mobile phone markets that dominated by familiar names such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, etc? It is an interesting question. Other branded goods that also created their own phones inclusive of Prada (partner with LG Electronics) and Armani (partner with Samsung Electronics).
