Download PIM Backup v2.5 For Mobile Data Backup Before Firmware Flashing
Have you ever encounter difficulty in backing up or transferring your personal data when changing to new mobile phone? If you are WMD (Windows Mobile Device) user, here is a good tool for you to backup/restore your important data such as contact list, SMS, email, tasks, speed dials and even call history whenever you need to switch to a new mobile or flash new firmware. The Windows Mobile application, known as PIM Backup version 2.5 is a successor of PPCPimBackup that able to complete the backup in minutes and then restore the data into the new mobile phone without hassle.

Once download and install the application, just launch and you can use it immediately. There are options for the user to choose proper directory for backup. Typically, do select backup to external SD card memory so that it can be switched to new mobile phone for full restore. Do remember to install the same application in the new mobile phone in order to restore the contents. Furthermore, user can selectively choose to backup certain data (Ex: SMS, MMS, Contact List and etc) to conserve memory space as well.
PIM Backup version 2.5 is compatible to almost all Windows Mobile devices OS version such as WM5 and the latest WM6. There are numerous way of backing up like Jeyo Mobile Companion or SMS Backup but I found this to be very user friendly and more importantly, is it totally free for download. It only took me few minutes for backing up before flashing my o2 Zinc to Windows Mobile version 2006.
The mobile application is free for download XDA-Developers. You can also directly download the setup files from links below.

Yeah, Sprite has some nice bells and whistles, but it costs $30. PIM Backup is FREE and works perfectly fine.

I use a product called Sprite Backup v6. This software backs up your whole device plus your external memory card, if you use one. You can backup to your PC or your external memory card. If your backup was done on the external memory card, you can do a very nice and easy restore. When you are done with your firmware upgrade, buying a new Windows Smartphone, even buying a new Windows Smartphone OS version, etc., you click on the backup exe that was stored on the external memory card and boom Sprite restores all your content, programs, etc. to both your Main Memory and your external memory card. Very nice feature. If your backup is stored on your PC, then you have a few more steps for the restore, it is still painless.
I really like this software and have not run into any issues.
