I want to restore my iPhone, as the bottom half of the screen is not working. The yellow triangle is not coming up for me. Is there anyother way of doing this?

have followed steps to restore to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 (had 1.0.2 and wanted to upgrade to 1.1.3 - revirginised first). got the yellow triangle, connected to iTunes, selected 1.1.1 FW from list - get an error (1). So I downloaded 1.0.2 so that I could restore from that - when I select that from the restore menu, nothing at all happens.
!!!!!!
what to do?
any help and suggestions welcome
(have been through all suggested steps several times)

pressing both keys at the same time and holding them for few seconds does go in to the recovery mode - but instead of showing the yellow hologram, it shows itunes + plug; though it goes to the recovery mode, it does not give an option to choose the firmware file of your own; rather, it downloads it and installs by itself. (now i'm stuck with 1.1.2) -

Eric,

The method here of holding the HOME button until the red triangle didn't work for me either. (My iPhone was a refrub that came with 1.0 on it)

So what I did was

1. Connect the phone to my PowerBook G4
2. This started up iTunes automatically
3. iTunes prompted me first to backup my phone (ok, that's nice ... though I only had like 4 numbers and my mac email) 4. Then it gave me the choices to update ... or restore
5. I went the restore route using "Option" + "Restore" allowed me to navigate to the 1.0.2 zip file
6. About 10 minutes later, the iphone restarted, resynched, and then restarted again. Do I want to update to 1.1.1 :) Nope :)

So now my phone is at 1.0.2 and ready to play with :)

I usually triangulate these issues ... I suspect there's a bit of variety in these phones

Good luck.

I have found the above method wont work. Holding the home key when the iphone is off does not put it into recovery mode anymore.

I hold the button and nothing happens.

So I am stuck with the 1.1.1 =(
And you have to be online for the restoration now so it downloads 1.1.1.

I did a restore and it now is a blue screen that flashes to a green one. It shows the plug to the Iphone and the Itunes icon.
