VistaTcpPatch Windows Vista TCP Half Open Limit Auto Patcher GUI Version
VistaTCPPatch Vista TCP connection half open outbound connection limit auto patcher is a GUI based utility to patch remove the security limit restriction placed by Microsoft on tcpip.sys in order to limit potential damage when the system is infected by malicious virus. VistaTcpPatch is actually the GUI version of the original tcip.sys autopatcher batch script.
Patching tcpip.sys is a way to optimize and speed up upload download transfer speed of BitTorrent (BT) and eD2K (more commonly known as eDonkey2000 or eMule) peer-to-peer (P2P) protocl (if you’re using uTorrent, BitComet and any other clients related to ‘bit’ or ‘torrent’, then you’re in fact using BT), which tends to launch a lot of simultaneous concurrent connections to peers, causing Event Viewer system log to show plenty of “TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts” with Event ID 4226. It will also help to make the increasing popular P2PTV such as TVants, PPStream, PPLive, and etc to stream the video channels faster and more smoothly, enhancing viewing movie or soccer match experience without lagging.
Download VistaTcpPatch.exe version 1.0.7.3.
The main advantage of VistaTcpPatch is it’s very simple to use, where you no need to manually replace the tcpip.sys file and modify the registry key. Follow the simple guide below to patch Vista tcpip.sys from security limit and solve EventID 4226 error.
Usage Instruction for VistaTcpPatch.exe
- Open an elevated command prompt with administrator rights.
- Enter the following command and then press Enter:
VistaTcpPatch /n X
where X is the new TCP connection limit that you want to use in Vista. For example, “VistaTcpPatch /n 512″ will set the concurrent outbound half open TCP connection limit to 512.
- Restart computer.
Make sure that you go to the correct folder the VistaTcpPatch.exe file is located (where you save it). For example, if you place the executable at C:\Users\Administrator\ folder, then you must change directory to that folder too.
For some system, you may have to copy VistaTcpPatch.exe file into \Windows\System32\ folder, and run the command above from there.
The Vista TCP Patch GUI utility is retrieved from BitComet 0.91. It’s not clear if the utility works with tcpip.sys version 6.0.6000.20583 installed on Vista after installing KB932596 kernel patch protection update. However, no sweat and worry over it, as the program will prompt a stop error message if the version of tcpip.sys is unmatched with the one it’s able to patch, or incorrect or invalid.
Update: A new driver based tcpip.sys crack has been released.

This patch does not work on Vista Home Premium after the latest winupdate hotfix. My friend run it before the hotfix and it worked. Any new patch?

If not important(this patch), then when under normal use of the TCPIP stack, with a P2P app, the event view tells “TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.”
So I’m assuming the max’d out connections yes?
Also, this version does not work on x64, does anyone know where it can be downloaded.
Thanks!

Jonas,
you are WRONG.
One of my PCs is a Win2003 Server machine, and I wanted to have simultaneous Shareaza (ed2k/G1/G2) and uTorrent operation. Not until I installed lvllord’s patch (<-google for it!) this was possible, as I was never able to connect to uTorrent at all when Shareaza was already running until I fixed the half-open connection problem.
So yes, it DOES matter.

VistaTcpPatch doesn’t work if you have installed all the current updates from Microsoft to your system.
September 5th, 2007 19:33
It’s not that important anyway, even for P2P applications. Since it’s only a limit on *half open* connections, it only slightly limits the rate of which you open new connections on e.g. a new torrent. That is, the time it takes you to get up to full speed may be increased by 10-30 seconds more or so, depending on the number of seeders.
In other words, it does not put a hard limit your bandwidth, or maximum throughput at any point.
Just saying, because this limit has been among the most misunderstood features since XP SP2.

Iam told “OS Not Supported” Have to wait for the compatible version of TCP patcher.

Should be not working. Not try as I believe new build only on applied on 64-bit Vista. Anyway, if you’re using wrong version, this program should display error message, and not patch it.

Works on TCPIP.sys 20583 build or not? if not, after patching then vista will fail to boot! have to replace from the backup, in order to boot properly.
