AMD Unveils Specification Designed to Enable Real-Time Performance Optimization for Software Applications
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) unveiled a specification, “Light-Weight Profiling” to help software developers to exploit the power of multi-core processors while building higher-performing multithreaded applications. With this specification, the company hopes to help the developers integrate software and hardware better and achieve higher performance.
Light Weight Profiling is a mechanism which enables software to be more effectively run on the emerging platforms. This technology is part of AMD’s initiative to develop hardware extensions for applications capable of dividing tasks so they can be executed simultaneously on multiple cores.
