First New Dual-Mode Cellular and Wi-Fi BlackBerry 8820
BlackBerry maker, Research In Motion (RIM) unveiled its new dual-mode BlackBerry 8820 which can operate on both cellular and Wi-Fi wireless networks. The Canada Company made the announcement in Toronto and revealed that the smartphone will be launched by AT&T in the United States later this summer.
The dual-mode BlackBerry 8820 features a full and “highly tactile” QWERTY keyboard, a large 320 x 240 display, a user-friendly trackball navigation system and also “best-in-class” voice and data functionality. It comes with a built-in GPS support, an enhanced version media player and an expandable memory slot for micromemory cards up to 32GB.
This dual-mode smartphone can switch between EDGE, GPRS & GSM Networks and 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi. Of course this smartphone can also operate with the BlackBerry Internet Service. It allows users to manage up 10 personal and corporate e-mail accounts, or with BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed inside a user’s business, which provides IT administration ability for Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell Groupwise systems. This smartphone can do voice-activated dialing, conference calling, speed dialing and compatible with Bluetooth 2.0. The pricing for the new phone has not announced yet.
