Flash-Memory Laptops by Fujitsu-Siemens

fujitsu.jpg The Japanese and German joint venture IT vendor, Fujitsu Siemens Computers unveiled a version of its premium Lifebook Q series laptops, which use flash memory instead of hard drive, to consumers. This laptop features a 32-gigabyte flash memory which can make the laptop faster, lighter and more energy-efficient.

Flash memory is quite commonly used for electronic gadgets such as digital cameras, USB sticks, MP3 players, etc. It is more expensive compared to the conventional hard drive. However, the drop in cost has made it more viable and popular to be used for other applications that require more memory. Flash memory can speed up the starting-up of the computer. It reads or writes faster and is able to store data even when the power supply is off.

Fujitsu-Siemens is working closely to update its 32-gigabyte flash memory toward 64-gigabytes.
