When I end shooting a scene, the camcorder keeps recording for half a second or so. So if I do not pay attention to keep the camera perfectly steady during the shutdown (difficult in any case as some movement occurs just by pressing the record/end button) I end up with some undesirable footage at the end of almost any scene. I have attempted to clean up these scenes using the "DIVIDE" function on the CX7 and deleting the sub-divided undesirable portion of the scene. The problem is that a brief pause then shows up at the end of every divided scene both on my computer and on a burnt DVD.
Irritant #2:
My editing needs are limited since most of my shooting is family or travel scenes. I just want to remove or trim undesirable scenes.I have attempted to do this with the Motion Picture Browser software using the "MEDIA FILE IMPORT" feature in oreder to do a scene selection.
The problem is that 3 or 4 scenes out of every hundred do not show up as thumbnail but rather as an empty thumbnail with an X at the center.
The problem is not related to those specific scenes as a second or third attempt shows them up but with 3 or 4 other scenes missing. The missing scenes appear due to a random processing error.
I have tried to do a patch by doing a second "MEDIA FILE IMPORT" of the missing scenes, which works fine, except that I have not found a way to integrate them in the same media file.

I love the astonishing picture quality, random access and compactness of the CX7 but I am starting to miss the flying erase heads and the simplicity of MiniDV.
