Toshiba New Vardia Series Hard Disk Recorder

Toshiba Corporation recently unveiled a high-definition digital video recorder (DVR) from its new VARDIA series in Tokyo, Japan. The latest two high-end DVRs, HD DVD Vardia RD-A600 and HD DVD Vardia RD-A300, feature a wider range of advanced functions and also integrate Toshiba’s new “Vardia Engine”, which supports significant enhancements for ease of use and performance.

Both RD-A600 and RD-A300 have substantial hard disk drive capacities. RD-A600 comes with 600-gigabite recordable hard drive and has the ability to record two digital HD television programmes simultaneously up to 78 hours. RD-A300 provides about half of the storage capacity of RD-A600. Like standard DVR, the new recorders allow users to build libraries of their favorite content, whether dramas, movies or sports, but add the ability to do so in vibrant, high definition detail, by storing HD content to HD DVD-R discs. This new Vardia DVR series from Toshiba is also able to extend the playback support for packaged content, including HD DVD, DVD and music CDs.

Toshiba Vardia RD-A600 and RD-A300 will be available in the market at the end of June/early July. DVR enthusiasts can find out more from Toshiba on the respective specifications and features. Click here.
