Sony HDR-CX7 – First and Lightest HDTV Camcorder Utilizing Memory Sticks

Sony recently unveils a new HDTV camcorder that utilizes memory stick as recording media. The model, known as HDR-CX7 is capable of capturing 1080i High Definition video quality and stores it into the memory stick Pro media card.

With the usage of memory stick as media storage, the camcorder size is reduced significantly as compared to other competitors’ product lines that still stuck with Mini DV cassette and DVD recording. Weighted at just 450g with dimension of 69mm X 67mm X 131mm, it is the world’s lightest and smaller model that supports HDTV as of today.

Besides its light weight and compact size, it doesn’t compromise in picture quality. The camcorder is equipped with Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens for excellent contrast and true-to-life color saturation. Furthermore, It also features optical image blur reduction by sensor detection that able to eliminate sensitive hand movement.

Other features include a 2.7” touch screen LCD, 10x optical and 20x digital zoom and a ½.9” ClearVID CMOS sensor with 2.28M effective pixels.

The model is expected to be available in market on July 2007, at retail price of $1200.
