Do not use Windows Live for getting your Hotmail at work or home. It downloads all of your emails to your computer for all the world to see without you actually signing in. And Microsoft says security is better. How? At least with Outlook Express and manage identities no one else could see my emails. You can open your windows live just by a couple of clicks on the cancel button and it opens up all received emails.

I need to get to my e-mail without giving all my information to another profile. THIS MORNING I could just sign in with my e-mail and password. WHAT HAPPENED?! I am definately switching to gmail. Why would they do this forceful action?! And yesterday they sent me a thank you for being with hotmail over 10 years e-mail!!!! How could they do this?

There used to be a column in which message size was displayed - it seems to have vanished this week, at the same time that all the extra crap started showing up upon signing in. Does anyone know if there's any way to get the message size to be displayed again (I'm talking about the emails themselves, not attachment size)??

It seems that Microsoft is trying to compete with Facebook. Hotmail used to be a quiet sanctum of anonymity- a home base, of sorts. Now, they have it in mind to coax you into creating a "profile" and posting a portrait of yourself. I doubt they're going back. When websites change like this, they might allow you to switch back for a while. But, sooner or later, that option compromises their memory load. I think it's already gone. I honestly don't know what they are thinking. Their setup is crude and certainly won't attract anyone looking for social networking. The simple "inbox/outbox" routine (with a no-flair/business-like screen name functionality) has always been hotmail's main draw. When users see that's being infringed upon, they are likely to seek a different resource. I'm not even going to talk about the ad-space they're selling out and the likely cookies being drawn in.

My old screen is too small for the new Hotmail that just popped today, 2/19/09 at 4:40pm, a few minutes ago: there is too much overprinted on a too narrow screen, no sliding bar at the bottom and it is completely UNUSABLE. Please help.
