Yeah it’s RDP. The P is for protocol. The Windows remote desktop software isn’t the only software that can use this protocol (RDP). For instance, Linux’s rdesktop program uses RDP. RDP, however, isn’t the most secure of protocols, as man-in-the-middle attacks are (or at least were) quite easy.
