Adobe PhotoShop (PSD) Preview Handler Free Download
Professional photographers and graphic designers who frequently receive image files in Adobe Photoshop proprietary file format (.PSD) in email attachments or have to handle .psd files frequently can make sure use Preview feature built into Windows Vista and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Most common graphics format such as JPEG, BMP and GIF has been supported out-of-box natively by built-in preview handlers, except PSD files. Luckily Microsoft allows developers to easily extend the preview handler capability to support new file format with Managed Preview Handler Framework. And, Photoshop Preview Handler has finally been created for users who wish to preview Adobe Photoshop .PSD file in Windows Vista Explorer or Outlook 2007 email attachments without actually open up the file.
The Adobe PSD previewers will allow users to save time by displaying a thumbnail preview of the Photoshop image when the file is selected, without loading the resource-hungry Photoshop application.

The features of the Adobe Photoshop PSD Preview Handler include:
- A readonly preview of the file will be shown in the preview pane.
- Dimension of the image and number of layers in the PSD file will be shown in the tooltip.
- Resolution, Color Depth, & Compression information of the file will be available to the user.
- Adobe Photoshop application will not be required.
- The previewer should also work for Outlook 2007 in Windows Vista.
Adobe Photoshop PSD Preview Handler with framework can be downloaded from CodeProject. Also available is project’s source code, with full explanation for those who are interested.

Hello, based on my personal experience (I have tried it successfully) you can get more previews by integrating Vista Preview Pane with QuickView Plus (as IE plug in). (www.avantstar.com).
unfortunately it’s a shareware with 30 days trial. But there’s always another “way”.
The vendor tells about it still doesnt fully support Vista, but the IE plug in will still be installed as well.
It supports more than 400 file types included most of known documents, images, and even apps binaries. So superior in my opinion. No need to create specific preview handler any more. same thing due to other IE viewer activex plug ins.
1. Download and install QuickView Plus. Launch it, Configure your custom file for IE plug in by clicking View – Confifugure QuickView Plus – Applications – Internet Explorer (IE plug in). then add your custom files (e.g. .dwg, .psd, .dll etc with their correct content type (MIME)
2. Download MSDN Preview Handler. Install it.
3. Download Preview Handler Editor or Preview Handler Configure. Open it then Look for “MSDN Internet Explorer Preview Handler”. select and add your custom files
4. Activate Vista /Outlook preview pane. Select your file. the preview appears perfectly now.
That’s it. Hopefully works. To me, it always works so far.
Thanx and regards-Amirz

Vista Preview Pane Alternative in Xp (3rd party):
1. FilePreviewer: http://www.orionsoftlab.com
2. Explorer View by Getdata: http://www.explorerview.com
unfortunately both of them are sharewares, so if you prefer “free”, try searching keygen/crack at http://www.astalavista.com or torrents. hopefully little helpful

Read-only? What kind of preview is that?? Designers usually have to see what they’re doing.

regasm /codebase PSDPreviewHandlers.dll
