Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Bypass Tool for OEM System Builder

System Builder Bypass Tool or WGA Bypass Tool is a utility that allows system builders or original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to download and install critical updates on new PCs without the requirement to activate or validate. With the introduction af Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA), a Windows computer must both be activated (requirement before system can run validation tool) and validated as genuine before receiving security patches or hotfixes from Windows Update. This poses dilemma for system builders who want to sell systems pre-patched with updates but not enable automatic updates, as most system builders do not activate computers on behalf of the end user.

Using WGA Bypass Tool

WGA Bypass Tool “sbbypass.exe” can be run at a command prompt on the computer that requires critical updates. System builders can run the tool by copying it to C:\sbbypass.exe and simply running it from a Command Line (either manually or as part of an automated process). However, the tool will not run correctly without sysprep running on the computer, and reboot may be required before sbbypass tool can be executed. Additional command line switches can be found by running sbbypass.exe /? from a command line.
