I bought a HP pavilion windows xp at OfficeMax 2003. I also (stupidly) bought the MaxAssurance along with the computer.($128.00 for three years, I was told)
I started having problems 2005 and they sent out a person to fix my computer. I was having graphic, start up problems. They sent me a monitor, USED!! This did not fix the problem and he came back out a couple of months later and changed the motherboard out. About three months later when this did not fix the problem, they finally sent him back to look at it again. He changed my motherboard out and this did not fix the problem.
When I called again, they told me that my contract was up. That even though this was an ongoing problem, I was on my own.
I decided to just do a clean re-boot from the recovery disks. Big mistake. I can not get back into my computer. The motherboard is a compaq motherboard and the HP computer do not match. I am being to contact my Administrator!! I own the computer and am the administrator.
I was not left the tattoo to the motherboard and I don’t know how to get the copy I need to ?? do whatever has to be done to fix the HP??? HELP PLEASE

RE-Cap of above.
1) Bought a HP pavilion XP from OfficeMax 2003.

3) When you call MaxAssurance, the phone has a message saying it this is your first year, contact HP. You are under there coverage for the first year.
4) I started having graphic problems 2005 and they sent out a person.
They sent me a used beat up monitor, thinking it might be the problem, wrong!
This did not fix the problem and a couple of months later they sent the same person again.
This time they changed the motherboard out.
When I called again, they told me that my contract was up. Even though it had only been two years with MaxAssurance. They counted the first year also even though HP covered the computer.
Now, even though this was an ongoing problem, I was now on my own.

I do now and I was not given one when mine was changed out.
I now can not use my HP at all because after trying the clean install by disks, I can not get back into my computer.
I am being to contact my Administrator!! I own the computer and am the administrator.
How can I get the copy of a “tattoo” for the motherboard? And how do I know what exactly I am suppose to download if I can find tattoos?
