   Is this impossible for a Phoenix BIOS? I even tried the Phoenix BIOS Editor program to add the strings manually.. but no luck.

   Any ideas? I really want to give my Acer laptop the info it needs to do this (and avoid using the new crack).

   Sorry to hear that didn’t work for you either.

   I’m gonna have to have a mess around also, but I’ve such a lot of work on just now it’s gonna have to wait a day or so.

   I’ll keep calling in here however and will let you know how I get on. perhaps you could do likewise.

   I have just been messing around with the oem bios emulator and this has an option to dump oem bios infomation but when I use this with the patched 1017 a8v delux bios it says This system does not contain a valid acpi slic table if that helps anyone?

   I have just tryed the 2nd ‘A8V-Deluxe’ bios for ‘Unky Herb’ (post 876) but vista still says you have 30 days to activate so I guess it still not right, o well any more to try??

    I like you have a desire to crack the ‘ASUS A8V-Deluxe’. The bios version listed here didn’t work for me either, But, ‘Niko76′ did release a 2nd ‘A8V-Deluxe’ bios for ‘Unky Herb’ (post 876)
    ‘Unky Herb’ however, never reported back with any results. I have not yet tried this new bios myself, maybe you wanna have a go but as ‘Niko76′ wrote, ‘Try it at your own Risk’.

    I can mod it 100% for you but I need (after first mod) SLIC mem address founded by HWDirect. If you don’t know how do it, come on efnet irc server (efnet.xs4all.nl) channel #bioses .

    The nForce4-A939 patch works beautifuly– used winflash in XP, replaced everything but the DMI info… booted up with the Vista DVD, put in the Ultimate edition serial (unchecked the activate online box)… After booting into windows, installed the Asus license file– and bingo, Activated windows. no reinstall needed.

    I have HP DC7100 Convertible mini tower PC.
    BIOS version is 2.14.

    I used Everest to check OEMid and OEMTableID.

    For APIC they are COMPAQ and GRANTSD.

    Has anyone try to update this BIOS for Vista activation or is anyone willing to help to update it by myself?

    I was reading articles on this site but I am lost now and I don’t know which steps to follow.

    Anyone tried this for an Acer Aspire 5002WLMi? I’d do it myself but I don’t trust my hex editing skills.

    Do this:

    Step by Step:

    1. DL the good bios from Asus, the 1303 bios A8N321303.ROM. Rename it to A8N32SLI.ROM and save it on a blank floppy disk.

    2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system

    3. If no floppy access occurs press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update.

    You must be using a PS/2 keyboard!! USB will not work. If you cannot get the mobo to read the floppy take out the cmos batt, clear the cmos jumper switch and try again. It took me about 5 times using this method to finally get the Ctlr + home keys to respond and it finally to read the floppy. Then the monitor will come up and look for the cdrom and or floppy. It will tell you what rom it is looking for. If you spelled the rom incorrectly, whatever it says on the screen is what it needs to be named to.

    4. When 4 beeps are heard or a reboot prompt you may remove the floppy disk.

    5. Restart the computer.

    This will work, trust me, it is built in and most peps do not know that AMI bios chips have this fail saife emergency bios load..

    the A8N32-SLI bios you reported has definitely fucked up my MB! No boot at all!! :@
