Abbreviations:

Success: Successful instant activation of Windows Vista
Reinstall: May need to reinstall Windows XP or Windows Vista
OEM ID: The BIOS is added/replaced with SLIC table with this OEM identity (default to Asus). You need to use corresponding OEM certificate if you’re not installing with OEM image.
Dynamic SLIC: BIOS mod for Vista with dynamic SLIC table in memory

Several important notes:

1. If you’re using WinFlash to flash the BIOS into computer’s ROM, unselect “DMI Area” option so that Windows XP activation will not be affected.
2. For Gigabyte motherboard overclockers, if you face problem and unable to boot up computer with overclock settings, try to go to BIOS -> Power Management Setup and turn off HPET Power Saving option.
3. You can install any version or edition of Windows Vista, be it RTM, MSDN, retail or OEM releases. The only different between them is that the Microsoft signed OEM digital certificate is built-in into OEM release, thus Windows Vista will be automatically activated once install with correct OEM product key that match with the Windows Marker in SLIC and RSDT tables in BIOS’s ACPI.
4. For RTM, MSDN, retail and any other non-OEM releases of Windows Vista edition, you need to install the Microsoft signed OEM cert for respective OEM ID patched into BIOS. For most of the above BIOS, it will be ASUS and Lenovo.
5. If Windows Vista has already installed, change the product key to OEM product key should works for instant activation.
6. For some of the motherboard, especially ASUS, if you face the problem that the CMOS configuration cannot be saved after flashed the mod BIOS, re-flash the original BIOS from manufacturer from within Windows system.
7. It’s reported that some BIOS, depending on method used to mod it, may not work on system with different physical memory RAM size.
