The Longevity of Mail Accounts

You might go on holiday or be too busy and have not logged into your account for a long time. If your mail account is registered with free web-based email services such as Yahoo mail, Hotmail, Gmail, etc., you might face the problem of your account being shut down. But how frequent do you need to log in to your mail account depends and varies with company.

If your account is registered with Yahoo, you need to check in at least once every four months before your free account expires. But if you subscribe to the premium service after paying the US$20 fee, you don’t have to worry then about your account expiring. For accounts registered with Microsoft’s Hotmail service, the account will expire if not checked every 30 days.

If you do not log into a Gmail account for an extended period of time, Google will mark your account as dormant and may delete it after nine months.
