Download Windows DreamScene (Motion Desktop) Beta of Vista Ultimate Extras

Windows DreamScene is part of free extra freebie package Ultimate Extras for Windows Vista Ultimate edition. Official, if you own Windows Vista Ultimate, you can download the Ultimate Extras from Windows Update or Microsoft Update website, where it will automatically detect which edition is your Windows Vista and will display Ultimate Extras as download option if the OS is detected as Vista Ultimate. However, if you can’t wait a few more days to the official release of Ultimate Extras on 30th January 2007 (the release of Windows DreamScene has been delayed, and will likely be released as technology preview (beta as release candidate) before official roll out), the beta version of Windows DreamScene installer or setup file has been leaked and available as the standalone free download.

View and Display Date Picture Taken and Camera Model Metadata of Photos in Windows Explorer

When you take a photo with digital camera, it’s not only the scenery and the people that was captured and stored in your memory card in a image file. Together with the image file, a metadata which contains valuable information and description about the photo is also stored internally in the digital picture file. The extra information include date and time picture was taken, width, height, resolution, bit depth, equipment make, camera model, color representation, flash mode, focal length, F-number, exposure time, ISO speed, metering mode and compensation. Not all fields of metadata is useful for everybody, as it’s mainly for classification and analysis of photos at later time. If you just need to see simple metadata about the images, Windows Explorer or any Explorer window can display the most commonly used fields of metadata – Date Picture Taken and Camera Model natively.

Display Path and File Name of Active Running Processes (Image) in Windows Vista Task Manager

Windows Task Manager is a task manager application integrated and built into Microsoft Windows operating systems. In Windows 9x, Windows Task Manager is called “Tasks”. The application provides information about computer performance and displays details about running applications, processes, network activity, logged-in users, and system services. In Windows Vista, Windows Task Manager is further enhanced with a new Services tab to view and modify currently running services, and a few new columns such as Description column to view the full name of a process. Another new column is Image Path Name that shows the path or location of the files that span the running processes in Windows Vista.

Not satisfy with Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) and Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program that requires Windows XP, Windows Vista and Office system to validate to certify that it’s genuine and not a pirated product before they can access to extra freebies on Microsoft websit, Microsoft has launched an online advertising and informational campaign that intends to tell people the benefits of using properly licensed software. The campaign, called Genuine Fact Files, covers areas and aspects such as awareness of intellectual property rights, risks of using pirated products, proper licensing practices and legalization of fraudulent products.

How to Open, View or Create XPS Documents in Windows XP and Windows 2003

XPS (XML Paper Specification) which previously codenamed “Metro”, is a document storage and viewing specification developed by Microsoft which defined formats and rules for distributing, archiving, rendering, and processing XPS documents. XPS format intends to compete with Adobe PDF format as both is displaying paginated, fixed-layout format electronic paper documents in page-by-page view of the document’s content as it would be printed. Windows Vista has built-in integrated Microsoft XPS Document Writer and XPS Document Writer, and if you’re using Microsoft Office 2007, there is Save as XPS plugin that allows users to create XPS files within Office application.
