- Open Windows Anytime Upgrade by clicking the Start button, then click on Control Panel, and then click on System and Maintenance.
- You will see Windows Anytime Upgrade in there, click on it.
- Windows Anytime Upgrade automatically takes you to the website where you can purchase the upgrade. Follow the instructions on each page.
- Select your desired upgrade edition.
- Purchases Vista upgrade online to secure a new digital key.
- After purchasing the upgrade, you’re instructed to download software that prepares your computer for the upgrade. The software takes a few minutes to download.
Then you can use your Windows Anytime Upgrade disc or the downloaded upgrade software with new product license key which allowed you to use and install the upgraded edition of Vista together with the Windows Vista installation DVD disc to complete the process by following the on-screen instruction.
When the upgrade is complete, you will have a new edition of Windows Vista running on your computer. To learn more about the new features that you just installed, read “What’s new in Windows Vista” in the Welcome Center, which you’ll see on your desktop, or search for “What’s new” in Help and Support.
Note that Windows Anytime Upgrade is not allowed to be use to upgrade a computer that’s running non-Vista operating system such as Windows XP. Other than from Microsoft, selected original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and retail partners will also be able to offer Windows Anytime Upgrade as online merchants, thus you have the option to directly upgrade the version of Windows on you PC by indicating the upgrade need to your dealer during or after your initial purchase.

I have a similar problem,
I got the upgrade disc with my Acer aspire 5050,
What i want to do is format all my hard drives,i mean totally wipe them,but i am not sure if this disc actually contains the Vista OS,is it just a way to upgrade your current OS?I got this laptop with Vista already installed on it,so this is why im not sure if the upgrade disc is the OS or if it is just a bonus disc for helping you to upgrade easier,i know this is confusing so if u dont know what i mean would you please talk to me on msn at feekin07@hotmail.com ,i have been trying to figure out what to do for months and if i dont find out soon im going to format and try it out

i had purchased the Windows vista Home Basic Edition with my laptop now i want to install the same version in another Desktop then i want to upgrade in to the windows vista Business 32 bit.
Can i install the vista with the same DVD and activate with Vista Business 32 bit

Anytime Upgrade? Stupid name. The name is terrible because it sounds confusingly like dial-up ISP flat rate monthly payment plans (eg BT Internet Anytime).
When I saw the DVD box, my reaction was, “I thought I could use the computer at any time already.” I opened the box, looked at the label inside, was still baffled. Could not work out what it was for.
“Upgrade to a higher version of Windows Vista with this disc.” Too much to ask, I guess.
