Convert and Make Applications Compliant and Run on U3 USB Flash Drive with PackageFactory for U3
If you own and have a USB flash drive (UFD, also known as thumbdrive, memory key and etc) such as SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive, Kingston U3 DataTraveler, Verbatim U3 SmartDrive and other flash drive that has built-in support for U3 platform and comes preinstalled with U3 launchpad, and like the convenient of portable applications and software, you can know create or convert applications into U3 compliant format with PackageFactory for U3 so that it can run from U3 USB flash drive.
PackageFactory for U3 by eure.ca is a free utility (for non-commercial use) that convert any application or executable EXE into a U3P Package File which is compatible and compliant with U3 Smart Drive platform and U3 Launchpad. You can then install this U3P file onto any U3-compatible flash drive.
Although PackageFactory for U3 is free for non-commercial use, and can be used without restriction or limitation, however, it will append “U3 build by Eure.ca” to the description of the U3P Package file. Beside, PackageFactory for U3 works best for simple programs and applications with few support files that are U3-aware, or at least rely minimally on Windows Registry, so that the apps can take full advantage of U3 platform, although you can add as many supporting DLLs and other EXEs as you need.

ck,
Thank you for your suggestion to try Foxit reader.
I have tried Foxit reader, but it is just a pdf reader.
I am looking more for a PDF Converter or PDF Printer that is U3 compatible.
If anyone has any more suggestions, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

[...] permalink I used to have a Kingston pendrive. It was mind numbingly slow. You could benchmark the pendrive using HDTach or something and post the results. It could be a Tally specific issue too, since I’m assuming updates to accounting files should be a few KB of data maximum. If your Kingston drive supports the U3 platform (i.e. a small taskbar icon with launchable icons is created when you plug it in), you could package the tally to run as an U3 application, completely portable. However be sure to backup your stuff properly before you try this!! Convert and Make Applications Compliant and Run on U3 USB Flash Drive with PackageFactory for U3 My … [...]

OK question. When you guys say find the .exe in c:\programfiles\… do I need to download and install a program on my computer FIRST and THEN package factory will transfer it to my U3 drive?
Could I just install programs directly to the USB and then use package installer, or would that make duplicate copies of that program on my usb?

Great idea, but the .u3p files it produces would not install on a SanDisk Cruzer 4 GB running U3. I tried with SnagIt 9 and with Luminotes. Luminotes is a tiny program. If PackageFactory could not make a functional U3 package of Luminotes, it is not a very capable solution.
