Thanks for publishing this procedure to activate windows via KMS server. I was trying for days to activate windows vista with the full KMS vmware server, the one with a *.vmdk file of 5GB in size and some how didn’t work for me. After reading this article I downloaded the slim version of KMS vmware server and after a few hours of trying I finally got it working and I was very happy to see the activation was successfully (180 days)

The only problem I have now is that after working with the activated windows vista for a while, I went to a microsoft website to download a file that requiered validation of product or what it’s called WINDOWS GENUINE VALIDATION. Unfortunatelly after running the Genuine validation activex softweare, it says that my windows vista productID is blocked, and some functions of windows vista stopped working as the Windows Aero which is a theme that makes windows vista windows looks like a transparent crystal glass at the top. But windows vista ‘in general’ is still functioning and the activaction is still fine. I have been looking for a crack for Windows Vista Genuine Validation (Vista Genuine WGA?) but looks like still noone has done it yet. So I’ll have to wait for it.

You don’t need to worry about Media State being Disconnected. The main thing to worry about is Submask Net being the same in your VMWare KMS Server and in your REAL WINDOWS. As long as those 2 match, you can activate Windows Vista Business, Business N or Enterprise Editions. In the torrent files that I listed above, you will find detailed instructions of how to activate and it works WITH Media State being disconnected.
